The obtained near-infrared absorber has the advantages of high visible light transmittance, strong near-infrared absorption, and good stability to light and heat. And the researchers also used the near-infrared absorber as a colorant and methyl methionate as a matrix to prepare a new near-infrared filter plastic product with stable near-infrared absorption performance.

Preparation of A New Near Infrared Absorbent Using Tungsten Hexachloride
Add a certain amount of tungsten hexachloride in an excess of neutral tributyl phosphate, stirring continuously at the temperature of water bath until the WCl6 is completely dissolved and then filtering, the filtrate is purified to remove excess neutral tributyl phosphate, the generated hydrogen chloride and other by-products, to obtain a blue viscous liquid, i.e., a new near infrared absorbing material.
